The wastewater treatment system is our very own improvement district. It's called the "Strawberry Hollow Wastewater Improvement District" "SHWID" which is authorized by Gila County. SHWID is managed by a board of directors derived from the property owners. Each property owner is encouraged to participate in every aspect of the district.

The wastewater system is a state of the art system with the best technology available. A gravity sewer system flows through the majority of Strawberry Hollow to a 150,000 gallon septic system that re-circulates with the treatment plant as necessary until clean water is sent through our subterranean drip field at the north end of Strawberry Hollow which recharges the ground water.

We have a contract with a wastewater operator that is responsible for regularly testing and maintaining the system. The treatment plant includes a telemetry equipped computer that is constantly monitoring the system. The system computer automatically calls the operator if a malfunction such as a motor with too much current draw, or an electrical problem occurs so the operator can either change a setting from a remote location, or know what the problem is and where it is located so he can respond accordingly.
