Water in Strawberry Hollow is provided by our very own water improvement district. It's called "Strawberry Hollow Domestic Water Improvement District" "SHDWID" which is authorized by Gila County. SHDWID is managed by a board of directors derived from the property owners. Each property owner is encouraged to participate in every aspect of the district.
The water system is a dual purpose system for both potable water as well as fire suppression. The SHDWID system starts when ground water is pumped into the 140,000 gallon storage tank at the northwest corner of Strawberry Hollow. It then flows into the pump house that regulates the pressure and flow into the water mains throughout Strawberry Hollow. The pressure is again regulated at each connection to assure that there is not too much or too little pressure at each house.
We have a contract with a water operator that is responsible for regularly testing and maintaining the water quality as well as monitoring overall system performance and leakage.
See the links to learn more about the fees, connecting to the system, etc..
